Mill St 881 219
Golsby's Butchers is a real modern old-style top-quality family butcher. The shop is just opposite the Cornucopia and the Co-op. Richard sources all his meat from nearby farms - some of it's organic and most of it is free-range and minimum chemicals. Besides regular meat (including mutton - quite hard to get these days), he does home-made sausages, pheasants, venison (from Balmoral), and fish (frozen but good quality).

But the surprising thing about this butchers shop is the amount of non-meat stuff there is in it - locally grown vegetables, cheese, ice-cream, eggs (Maran eggs in season - probably the best you'll ever taste), and fruit pies.
A lot of the meat as sourced as locally as possible - in particular they use Woods Farm, Watlington - more about them on their Website. Click here for more about locally produced food and food-miles. |
