The Bartholomew Players

Next production

Our next production will be will be Michael Palin's black comedy "The Weekend" which premiered in the West End in 1994 and will take place at Eynsham Village Hall on the 17th-20th November 2010.

Faced with a family gathering, world-weary Stephen Febble does his best to be difficult. When his daughter, her dreary husband Alan, their precocious child and - not least - the dog come to stay for the weekend it's enough to make him reach for the whisky, and for the sarcasm. The climax arrives on Saturday night when his patient wife Virginia has laid on a dinner party and the chiropodist comes too. In this, his first stage play, Michael Palin takes a look at family values with black humour.

The Bartholomew Players

The Bartholomew Players has been running as an amateur dramatic society for over 30 years.
In that time we have performed many plays including comedy, drama and thrillers, and have taken part in several drama festivals. The group is a friendly one, and includes people aged from 16 to 80 with a huge range of skills. We are always excited to meet new people with an interest in the theatre. The group is also social, and we have regular pub nights as well as going to see plays by other groups whenever possible.

We are in urgent need of more members, especially men, to enable us to select from as wide a range of plays as possible. If you have ever thought about acting or were considering returning to the theatre after “resting”, now is the time to join us. We need you!!!

Help backstage is crucial to the success of our productions; there are roles in set/costume design, publicity, dressing, props, prompt, front of house, stage management and so on - even opening and closing the curtains requires somebody!

Why not come along to one of our meetings and see what you think! We meet most Wednesdays from 8pm - 10pm in Eynsham Village Hall, Back Lane, Eynsham.
