what you can do on your own

There are lots of things you can do on your own, to reduce your own carbon footprint, without waiting for anyone else.
  • Insulate
  • Install low energy light bulbs throughout
  • Switch to green energy
  • Measure energy use as a step to reducing consumption
  • Buy locally
  • Re-use and recycle more – share wheelie bins
  • Grow food and flowers to replace imported produce
  • Walk, cycle and use public transport and the car less
  • Drive more economically
  • Avoid flying short haul and reduce long haul flights
  • Put low carbon at top of priority list when choosing to replace equipment, cars etc.
  • Avoid unnecessary consumption
  • Talk to friends and family
  • Lobby representatives
  • Join Greentea, and get involved in one of the new working groups
  • Train and act as an ambassador for the planet
