the S1 bus to Oxford and Witney |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The S1 bus (until 2009 the 100 bus) is the main connection to the rest of the world (Oxford and Witney in the first instance). It runs at roughly 15-minute intervals during the day, half-hourly in the evenings, and every 10 mins in rush hours. Once in Oxford it has its own bus-lane and bus-controlled traffic lights. At the Church stops there are Timing Boards which tell you how long till the next bus (see right- often (maybe usually) it shows the number of minutes you have to wait till the next bus).
Eynsham is lucky to have a bus-service like this - although the timings are often erratic and the prices are rather high. Visitors and occasional users are advised to sit in the front row on the top deck - to get the most out of the startling roller-coaster ride through the English countryside between Eynsham and Oxford.. The S1 bus timetables - click View under the number "S1 (was 100)". Other buses serving Eynsham Stagecoach also run 2 other services through the village, and one along the A40: 11 Oxford to Witney - via Eynsham, Long Hanborough, Freeland and Northleigh 18 Oxford to Witney - via Eynsham, Stanton Harcourt, Standlake, Bampton S2 - Oxford to Carterton - via Woodstock Road, A40 (not village) Click here to see timetables - then put relevant number in Service No box Click here to see map of bus routes through village - scroll down and click Bus Routes |
